Advocating for environmental education is just as important in the
developing world as it is in industrialized nations; however, many indicators
have shown that reaching out to these people in their communities is still very
difficult due to the challenges of language barriers, illiteracy, and cultural
differences that are continuing to stop many communities here in Uganda from
participating in learning new methods and practices of how we can continue to
protect our environment.
Therefore educating children and young adults about environmental
problems is very crucial for long-term success. Training and sensitizing our
people with this knowledge will help to foster a sense of responsibility and
"proactive citizenship," so that when they become adults they will
make choices that help the environment rather than harming it.
Unless we become very sincere and open to these people on how they should
change their attitude towards their surrounding, disasters like landslides,
elinino rains, Tsunami, epidemics like cholera, endemics like typhoid, are
still bound to continue threatening their lives.
All these environmental problems that have been affecting us for a decade
are real. But what have we been able to do as Africans and the rest of the
world to reach out and provide solutions that are currently needed. We may
blame or rely on the government to help us reduce this devastating conditions yet
the first solutions that are needed are within our means; Lets all wake up
regardless of whether the governments intervene or not because all I know is
that these problems affects us all. These problems will affect each one of us
and they will have a serious impact on our health, our food and our
environment.
We may not pay much attention to these environmental problems because we don't
understand how dangerous they’re in affecting our future generation lifestyle. Please lets raise up and do some thing about
the future of our planet
